These photographs were taken over the course of one night whilst travelling from Caen in Northern France to Portsmouth in the UK via ferry. This night crossing was the last leg of my journey home from Morocco after being stranded as a result of a volcanic eruption in Iceland.
In May 2010, the Eyjafjallajökull volcano began erupting, causing an ash cloud to cover most of Northern Europe. Airplanes were grounded and over five million people were stranded worldwide.
